Delmar
We've just had our first game session for our latest 4th Edition D&D campaign. It is a conversion of the first edition "B2 Keep on the Borderlands" module (yes, about as "old school" as you can get). This is the first adventure of our second night of D&D on Thursdays. I am acting as Dungeon Master for the first campaign. We rotate the DM position with each new campaign. Let me introduce you to the players who joined us on night one: Cheshire is a Drow Rogue played by Sylly: Draos is a Deva Avenger played by Tagon: Malharath is a Changeling Sorcerer played by Liquid Wolf: Malister is a Tiefling Warlock played by RevLazaro: Ogravin is a Longtooth Shifter Ranger played by Baentir: The group started out as strangers, meeting under less than stellar circumstances. They were strangers who all managed to make their way for their own reasons to the border fort known as Fort Brand. The fort sits on the edge of civilization and provides protection to the Realm from the untamed "Borderlands" which lie beyond. As they sat in the local Tavern, a fight broke out amongst other patrons, which suddenly escalated into a full-scale bar room brawl. Though the group did not participate in the fight, they were taken into custody with the other people who were in the bar. After discussions with the Sargeant of the Guard, the group was offered, in exchange for their freedom, the option of participating in a newly formed task force. Lately, there has been a significant increase in the aggression of the local inhabitants. The group was assigned the task of dealing with a band of kobolds which have been accosting travelers along the King's Road. The party set off at dusk, hoping to catch the kobolds, who are nocturnal, outside of their den. Their plan worked as they located the Kobolds just as they were exiting their lair for an evening of raiding. The battle was fierce. The group was able to surprise the kobolds and took immediate advantage of the free round of attacks. However, the tide soon began to turn. Draos, who was first into the fray, was eventually overwhelmed by sheer numbers and fell. The rest of the group appeared to be in trouble as well at points throughout the battle. However, through determination, teamwork, strategy and a little help from Sarge (who decided to follow the group on their first outing), the band of heroes won the day. Upon claiming victory and looting the bodies of the fallen, the group returned to Fort Brand to recouperate and resupply...and do some heavy bargaining while merching their loot! Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening of gaming with friends and I thank all of you who participated. Anyone who would like to join the next session (Thursday at 8:00pm EST) please send me a pm or post here.
