Mmmm... that really seems like the real thing.  I don't know about his prediction though.  He says that in 5 years, every computer will come with that interface.  5 years is a long time in the world of computers but it seems like that needs a lot of real space to work and will probably need more and more expensive supporting hardware than the mouse and keyboard we're currently using.  We'll see.  I remember something similar being said about virtual reality sets back around 1997.

Well, you can see with the Kinect, which builds on the same idea that Underkoffler's UI does, it's possible. By adding the sensors to -new- monitors, or selling individual sensors that can clip on, it would be cheap(really, the technology is pretty affordable) and easy to set up.
