Mumble Setup Guide

Follow the instructions below to download, install and setup Mumble.

Download Mumble version 1.2.3a

Use the link below and download the Mumble Client version 1.2.3a.
This file is 14.5 megs.

Install Mumble

DO NOT USE THE CERTIFICATE WIZARD! If you see that option.

The installation varies based on your version of windows or mac computer system.

1. Start the Mumble Installation, click Next.

2. Click Install
.

3. Accept the terms for the License Agreement then select Next.

4. Click the drop down box next to the text Mumble (backwards compatible client).
DO NOT USE Mumble (backwards compatible client).

5. Select, Entire feature will be unavailable, then click Next.

6. Select Install, on the Ready to install Mumble 1.2.3 window.

7. Click Finish to complete the installation.

CotP Connection Settings

After Mumble is installed:
  • If Mumble did not automatically launch after the install go to step one.
  • If Mumble automatically launched, go to step two.
1. Find the Mumble Icon on your desktop then double click the icon to open Mumble.

2. Click the Add New button.

3. Fill in the information with the following:
  • Label: COTP
  • Address: 74.201.57.188
  • Port: 64738
  • Username: (use your CotP Forum name)

4. Click OK.

5. If you get the certificate message, use the default choice, otherwise skip to Step 6. DO NOT USE THE CERTIFICATE WIZARD!
The installation varies based on your version of windows or mac computer system.

6. Click Connect to connect to the server. If you receive, a message that there is an issue with the server, click OK and proceed.

CHANNEL VIEWER SETTINGS

This tutorial is optional, but it will greatly improve the look and feel of Mumble.

1. Click on the Configuration, select Settings.

2. Click on User Interface at the top left of the Configuration window.

There will be several changes made on this User Interface window.

3. Make sure the Advanced box is checked at the bottom left of the window.

4. In the Channel Tree section on the right side of the window, Click the drop down box and select None. This will make the channel list easier to navigate by keeping the channels closed, until you open them.

5. Select the box Users above Channels. This puts the public room for the chapter at the top of the groups instead of at the bottom. This clarifies visually which chapter room you have joined.

6. Select the box Show channel user count. This displays the number of people in a channel (room) at the right of the channel (room) name.

7. Click Apply, click OK.
