Here are some screen shots of a sweet area I located last night.

First one is over looking a vast valley full of junk piles and many large cities, 2nd and 3rd are pics of the large clear area (would need some work here and there with leveling off), and the 4th is of the nearby junk pile on the side of the mountain across a river, easily accessable...

Coords are in Zone 601 around 28, 911, 719 way way up in the mountains...

There is one guy up there but he's tucked back in a corner up river... All ghost walled...

Another semi-town exists a ways down the mountain, but it appears abandoned...

Sadly a totem was found this morning which would block the scavenge pile :cray:

From what I can tell about the game, we should really never stop exploring, the game is always changing and the devs have kept a lot of vital items in the dark as it relates to the overall world.

I do have some recommendations for scouts...the only current items that determine if a spot will be good as the world stands right now, is having an open (no totems) salvage area that is close to water. Next will be the amount of nearby area suitable for building a town with many buildings, walls, etc. So, a semi flat area next to water and a salvage area with no nearby totems is going to be the kind of spot you'll want to take to the tribe as a possible location for future growth.

The problem is the world is not as big as we think it is, and it is getting smaller with more settlers joining everyday. Until they start expanding the world, which I have no doubt that they will eventually do, I think we have to entertain the idea of sharing salvage piles and setting up frienldy relations with the neighbors. I came across numerous sites last night that looked excellent but there was another tribe somewhat near the area already using a salvage pile. However, there was enough land space for both tribes to expand on. It would just be a matter of establishing relations with other trible and forming an alliance.

The section that Zippity showed isn't bad even if the salvage pile has someone staking part of it out, for the simple fact that there are numerous large piles down by the coast, which isn't too far for people to transverse.

I am going to scout some more tonight and hopefully I can find an open area with an unclaimed pile, but I also know that we started the game late and most areas have already been scouted out by other tribes.

Even after every "really good" looking city plots I've seen so far, I still have a pretty good feeling about our current spot....if we can get more folks to join up, we will have a good shot at owning both sides of our mountain range giving us sole control over the salvage area and dual access to water.

I struck gold!

Well, in a post apocalyptic world, I struck junk!. :sun_bespectacled:

I was planning to scout around 863 and was passing through 86 when I came across a big pile of junk with an encampment around it. I figured it belong to another tribe and was going to run by, when I noticed the lack of a totem pole. I altered course and searched for a totem, but didn't find one. I then salvaged something and didn't get a warning message about it belonging to someone else. I then created a tribe and dropped a totem right in the middle of it, and Lo and Behold the whole pile was mine along with some of the buildings and baskets. muhahaha.

Since I dropped the totem, the baskets are now my property and I was able to open them all. And all I can say is, sweet! The baskets are full of cloth, and various types of metal, along with about 80 sheets of large sheet metal.

So, even if you folks don't like the area, we can still scarf the loot.

Ok, I have found numerous locations after the pot of gold one listed above which are a lot better. After my last round of scouting, I think we need rethink some stuff. I will try to be on mumble tonight after 10 PM to cover some stuff.
