A platoon in BFR is like a guild, where our stats are combined and kept track of?

Platoons in BF3 are exactly that. It helps coordinate groups to jump into matches, it unifies COTP into one solid group of players, and it tracks all our stats into one place. Its alot like facebook for digital warfare. You can post status updates on the platoon page to keep everyone updated. I also created a platoon emblem (let me know how u guys like it)

i encourage everyone who plans on playing BF3 to apply to our platoon so we can easily keep track of one another and join groups quickly and easily so we can get out there and own some noobs!!

I went to my local Best Buy's midnight release, came home, installed...and learned how bad I am at this game. :) Never played any of the earlier BFs but I certainly understand the concept of not running around guns blazing...keeping to cover, etc. Hopefully, as I play more I'll be able to actually help my team rather than be a point sink.

Just a warning if you let me into the platoon. I am essentially a red shirt! Which leads me to the question...should I wait to apply until I have more of a handle on the game? I don't want to drag down the platoon's stats. Right now I think my biggest problem is just seeing the enemy.

If you are new, try out the single player campaign. Jumping in the multiplayer games can be intimidating, but can be a good learning experience. Lag on the various servers can affect your experience. The game will keep track of which servers you play on, and I think you can mark server favorites for your self. Servers can have their own subtle rules, or maps rotation. When I first started playing BF2, I found a server that had a cap on what rank you could be on that server. This made it fairer for lower level characters to play. There could be one of those servers available. Players that work together as a team will do better. As your character progresses, you'll unlock new abilities which can give you an advantage. Try out the 4 different classes.

You can have multiple characters, if stats are your concern. At least that was true with the other BF games.

More concerned with having fun than worrying about my stats - just didn't want to be a drag on others. Thanks for the advice...will look into the servers and such. Loaded up the single-player campaign and crashed after killing the first few guys.

Chimaeros, play however you think will give you the most fun. If that's being a lead catcher in multiplayer, go for it. Everyone sucked at these types of games when they started. I will say, the sooner you start in mp, the quicker you start unlocking accessories and new weapons.

I've been playing these games since Goldeneye. My origin name is DvlRat, add me. We'll squad up and take turns being the bullet magnet because I still suck sometimes. But I'm always having fun.
I don't care if you lick windows or occasionally pee yourself; you hang in there sunshine, you're special.

Hi Guys,

I'll be applying to the COTP Platoon shortly. One thing unlike other games is the BF3 Battlelog site allows a player to be a member of other platoons as well.

My BF3 toon name is also "Atrayo".

Hi There,

When do you folks usually play BF3?

I've only had the good pleasure of finding Maj_medical (Voltari) once on a server. Couldn't quite sync up for voice chat however.

Lately i'm on late at night into the early morning hours.

I still play. But not as much since SWTOR came out. I'm on as Maj_Medical. I have yet to do the co-op missions. I find the MP online games very addicting. :)
