  • FYI: Heirloom armor sets available from Horde and Alliance guild and heirloom vendors

    Recommended Posts

If you have a character at Honored or higher reputation with our Horde guild on Durotan or Alliance guild on Ysera, you'll have access to all of the heirloom pieces, which you can use on any character on your account to get a 45% increase to leveling XP from 1-60 (which can be extended to 90 and 100, but it gets expensive). It doesn't take long to get to Honored, but there are various guild tabards (available at the Guild vendor) that grant a bonus to Guild reputation gain. There are also rings that also add an XP boost, available through a separate achievement (you can have a maximum +50% boost IIRC).

BTW, the legs are available through the Guild Vendor in Orgrimmar/Stormwind (not the heirloom vendor in Undercity/Ironforge).

The heirloom legs are made available by getting all professions to 600+ on characters who are at Honored reputation or above with the guild, so congratulations to everyone who helped us get this achievement on both factions!

To bring up the Heirlooms menu, press Shift-P and click on the Heirlooms tab. Right-click on the Heirloom you want to create a copy in your inventory. You can create a copy of an Heirloom on any character on your account, regardless of faction or realm. You can have multiple copies, for example, if you are a two weapon fighter and have access to an Heirloom weapon, you can create two copies and use both (provided it can be used in the off-hand).

It's 45% (head, shoulders, chest, legs for 10% each, and cloak for 5%).  Rings require specific achievements to unlock.

Alliance side, per the Guild Roster, we're short:

    Blacksmithing (closest at 210)

    Leatherworking (closest at 532)

    Tailoring (closest at 540)

Achievement also needs 600 in Archaeology, Fishing, Cooking, and First Aid (any 100-boost character has 700 First Aid, so that's covered), but I can't see those on the Guild Roster.  Pipe up if you have any of these at 600.  Looks like at least one person has all of these last ones at 525 (Working as a Team achievement progress).

I have come to the (very grueling) decision to use the 100 boost on my warrior. It sits at 54 atm with Blacksmithing. I will level it to 60 and then use the boost and we will have the blacksmithing portion of the achievement complete, which appears to be the last one for "working as a team" 525.

    Drekken, hold that thought.

I moved my L50 Hunter over from Lothar.  He's currently skinning/herb, but I've got two or three other skinners.  Will be switching him to BS when he hits 60.

In retrospect, I'd much rather have dropped Skinning on my DK and made him the BS, but he's already boosted, so it's too late.

My Monk hit 60 last night, so I'm starting the Hunter today.  Last will be the tailor/enchanter Priest.

My DH is LW, but has to grind it the slow way.

We need to get to 600 for the pants.

Thanks for the heads up. Getting the BS boosted was an added bonus, the grueling part was picking the warrior from a shortlist of classes. Good to see you are covering the bases :)

BS and "Working as a Team" are done.

LW and Tailoring are left for the pants.

Leather is surprisingly expensive on the AH, so I'll probably grind skinning on the Hunter over the weekend and level LW as mats allow.

Working Better as a Team also requires that the characters with the professions at 600+ are Honored with the guild. For example, there are 2 of us (Falchionista and Lashimir) with Skinning 700, but neither of us are Honored yet - probably because we just used the boost and didn't do much in the way of questing with them. :D  My character, Lashimir, is "Neutral" with the guild, for example, as all I've done with him is Skinning and Leatherworking.

Running through the intro do Draenor quest chain will get Falchionista to Honored (he's low Friendly).  I'm on the fence about dropping skinning on the Hunter, taking LW, and boosting him.

Pick wild flowers and make chainmail vs Pick wild flowers and skin dead animals.  Just have to sort out if I'm averse to the former.  Pet classes are just too good for node-based resources, for getting the mob off the node long enough to pick it.  Otherwise, I'd move herbalism to another toon (though the thought of a fierce Demon Hunter picking flowers as a hobby has some amusement value).

I assume this only works with the Alliance guild since it is the only WOW guild that is live, correct?

Both the Alliance guild on Ysera and the Horde Guild on the connected realm Durotan are live. All information is available in the Chapter Information post.

    .

You can claim an heirloom on any character on your account regardless of faction or realm. So once you get access to the pants on Alliance, you can also claim it on any Horde character (and vice versa).

    • 3 weeks later...

I have the full set of heirloom for my low level WW now but the only thing I could transmog was the cloak.  What level do you have to be to transmog the rest of the armor?  It looks kind of silly questing in long underwear.

IIRC, different transmog slots unlock at different levels, even different transmog looks in each slot. You may be able to see at what level you can transmog an item through the transmog window at the npc.

Ok, thanks Drek.  I'll check the transmog every 5 levels.
