It’s time for another Hunt, guys!  We will be looking through the game for various locations and spectacles galore – whether it’s a landmark or a particular site worth investigating. The trick is to find the proper locale before anyone else, and earn points enough to take the prize! Based on points at the very end of the game, everyone who participates can win prizes and just have fun!

 

When: Game starts Monday, 22 August, when the first listed target goes up. The Hunt will run through the end of the month, until 31 August when the last “target” location is posted for preview. Final entries must be submitted by 8pm EDT on 31 August. 

 

Newest legs of the Hunt will be posted at least daily throughout the week.  Remember -- check back regularly! The Target locations may be posted at any time of day!  You don't want to miss it, because the fastest three to find the Target will get additional points.

 

Targets:  Targeted locations are all predetermined.  The Listing of each target will be posted on the forums, in this thread HERE, each day throughout the week.  There are a total of TEN targets.  They will be located randomly throughout the game, on both Republic and Imperial side. 

 

Each Listing will include Clues to help Hunters find the Target, including a screenpic of either a republic-side character or an imperial-side character at that particular Target.  Clues will hint at planet location and general vicinity.

 

The Target is always the LOCATION. Find the spot and mark it with your own screen picture, that you then submit here on the forums!

 

Rules:  Hunters must Find the actual Target as described in the original Listing, verifying it’s correct by creating their OWN screen picture and uploading it to the forums HERE in this thread.  Your submitted screen picture must match the original screen pictured LOCATION as close as possible; basically, ensure the background of your picture is the same.

Note: each Hunter can only submit a single Find (one screen picture per hunter, in other words) – so no “edit” of the submission is allowed. Entries marked on the forums as “edited” will not count for points.

 

Scoring:  Points will be awarded to Hunters based on accuracy and speed of the Find:

 

5 points for every correct Target located/completed
5 points for being first
4 for being second
3 for being third

 

Prizes:  Mercenary Hunters deserve sheer, unmitigated cash!  That, and bragging rights, of course!  2 million credits to the Hunter who wins the most points.  1 million credits to the Hunter who comes in Second.  And 500,000 credits to the Hunter in third.  Tied winners will split the pot.

 

Every Hunter who participates and Finds all Ten of the Targets listed will win a random in-game vehicle valued at least 100,000 credits.

 

Tracking the Hunt:  I’ll post the Points awarded right HERE in the thread so that everyone can watch the Hunt’s progress.  Remember to check back regularly!

Two thoughts:

 

1) Phyre, how closely do the pictures need to match?  Even once you find the location, it can take several minutes to figure out which angle the picture was taken from/where to stand/etc. to match yours.  For the first three at least it's a race so the question of 'eh this is the right location close enough' versus a closer re-creation of the screenshot applies.  If just the location is all that's needed, that could be essential to a race.

 

2) To everyone.  Please hide or disable your UI before submitting pictures.  The entire point to the 'challenge' is defeated if someone can see the planet name and minimap location for the exact spot from your submission.

(1) It should obviously be the Target Location. For instance, I can tell Jorethian didn't pan his camera out to get the background shot the same, but he's obviously at the correct location. If I can not tell it's the same spot, I will point out the Target wasn't reached, rather. And it becomes a "try again" opportunity.

 

(2) If you're not aware how to hide your UI, only use Alt-Z on your keyboard and your UI is effectively hidden until you use Alt-Z again.
