I haven't played SWTOR since Beta / Launch, and I only played for a few months after launch.  Recently I got back into DAOC, but not everyone is online when I want to play it and it's one of those games that's really only fun for me with a group.  It did however get me thinking of re-trying other MMORPG's that I haven't looked into in a while.  With that being said, I'm going to give SWTOR another shot.  So here's what I'm hoping to find out from you all:

    1. Is COTP more active on the Republic or Empire these days? Or does that not matter any more?

    2. Currently what are the strongest classes in PvP, or for that matter - is there even any active PvP nowadays?

    3. While most of the classes are likely balanced by this point, are there any that stand out currently as the strongest healers? Strongest DPS?

    4. I had the Digital Deluxe pre-preorder from back in the day, and it looks like I have 6000 Cartel Coins due to the P2P -> F2P shift.  Any suggestions on things that are worth spending those on?

    Welcome back :)

    1) We currently have the most activity as a guild republic side, however most of us have toons on both sides.

    2) The current flavor of the month for PvP is Commando/Mercenary due to the overpowered defensive cooldowns. Most likely next in line to be nerfed. Sniper/gunslinger and assassin/shadow are also good front runners. I would prolly just go with what you like to play and bring a group. Makes it more fun.

    3) It depends on the type of healing. Sage/sorc tends to be more of AOE type healing, scoundrel/operative is HOTs based, and commando/Mercenary is burst based. If I say one is better than the other, phyre will prolly kill me ****help me** jk. For DPS, all are viable, however vanguard/power tech and sage/sorc are lowest in actual numbers. (Doesn't matter unless you are doing top tier difficulty though)

    4) personally, I would buy a hypercrate and sell it on the GTN for a crap load of credits. Then use that seed money to get what you want.

The above is my opinion but I hope it helps.

My apologies, Elric. I am not sure what game they are playing but they seem to be confused about top heals, which is Sorc OP master race. Sorc is best at top burst, and though we are seen as AoE and we have a few AoE healing abilities, AoE healing isn't our top spot anymore, though if you are a good player you won't be able to notice.

Phyre probably thinks it is smuggler but it isn't :) :) :)

    Thanks for the info Rashin!

I currently have a level 50 Sorc from the last time I played, and a few other chars in the 20-30's range (all Empire).  I think I may want to create something new, so I'm leaning towards Commando and Shadow.  I'll probably create one of each and play through the low levels to see what I think of each.  I have a free lvl 50 and free 65 that I can use on whichever one I end up liking more. :drinks:

You and I may not agree here but here goes :)

Sage/ Sorc Heals are burst Heals.

Scoundrels/Operatives heals are hots and aoe heals.

Commando/merc heals are a mix of in between Sage/Sorc heals and Scoundrel/Operative heals. They have hots and burst heals.

Mike one of each and never be left out of anything lol. Honestly one isn't better than the others, but some do pair well together better

I got my Commando to level 70 last night, so now it's just a matter of finalizing a rotation for "endgame" and gearing up through Command Level boxes.  I originally tried gearing up through Group Finder to do Flashpoints, but the gear from Command Level boxes is quite a bit better.

I plan on "starting" two other characters this week while the 250% exp event is still going.  I have a free 60 and 65 char to use, and I don't expect those to take long to get to 70. :drinks:

You can still do Flashpoints and get Command Crates.  When you hit 70, the game stops giving you loot boxes and starts giving you Command XP instead, and every time you complete a "command level" it gives you a crate.   Flashpoints are a good source of Command XP, so if you run them post 70, you'll get crates.

A very quick way (possibly the fastest way - at least it feels that way) to level pre-70 is to run Heroic Missions on various planets with a small group.  There's a large terminal on fleet on the inside side of the outer ring concourse that gives you all the planetary heroic missions with quick transport to the target location for each, so you can quickly move between them.
