Spryone Posted June 26, 2017 Share Posted June 26, 2017 (edited) Today a group of us were able to defeat the Phoenix and earn our pets. It started out great with 4 of us defeating the Flaming Avian our first try. Unfortunately the next 4 encounters we didn't fair so well. But with those 4 defeats we gained knowledge. Just as in Monty Python's search for the Holy Grail we realized we needed to sacrifice an ally by letting him run in and take aggro while the rest of us proceeded to pelt the Phoenix with spells and arrows. Well we did throw some heals to our ally so he could continue to distract the Avian while the fight was on. None the less this strategy was a winner and eventually 4 of us were able to pluck our precious feather from his dead corpse. We even let our ally who so gallantly rushed into the fray ahead of us pluck one of his own. Needless to say hopefully sometime in the future I hope we can venture up and pay a visit to the Phoenix again so others can acquire their own pets too. Thank you to everyone who was there and our good friend Spex. Who was hit with inspiration and thought of suggesting to Greagoir that he got it right the first time when he just ran into the fray first and kept the Phoenix's attention while the rest of us poured on the dps and heals as best we could. Who ever said that you couldn't believe anything out of a Monty Python movie. We proved today that you could. You just have to find someone gullible enough, wait thats not the word, hmm..Gallant yes that word that describes our essential piece in this strategy. Gallant enough to rush in and distract the Quarry while we either decide to go in and help them or we just RUN AWAY! Nobody liked my strategy I wanted to make a catapult like in Conan and toss farm animals at the Phoenix. The Guild conquered The Wonder Chicken once again multiple times today with the help of Crowfeather, Drothar, Gregoir, Inseril, MeKong, Pop Eye, Spexs, and Myself. Alas there was no head that dropped that could be mounted in someones home. I had a great time doing it and we learned a new strategy, "Throw In the Ranger First" and heal him good approach. It worked good most of the time well, as long as we didnt fight the Proud Fowl in the Heat of the Day. Thanks to everyone who was there to get some meat that tasted like roasted chicken .
