Living Forgotten Realms

This year, the RPGA is proud to present the official launch of the first worldwide D&D 4th Edition campaign, Living Forgotten Realms. It's a massive shared-world campaign in which you create your own character and play anywhere adventures are available, including at conventions and in your own home. Re-discover the Realms by playing one or more of eight different adventures premiering at the show. A character creation station will be available onsite, or you can download the character creation guide from our website.

Adventure descriptions for all the Living Forgotten Realms adventures are listed below. NOTE: Because of the high demand for Living Forgotten Realms adventures, it may be difficult to obtain a real event ticket. Generic tickets will be accepted for admittance when possible, but there is no guarantee that a player with a generic ticket will be able to play in a specific adventure.

Adventure BALD1-1: "Flames of Initiation"
You have come to the city of Baldur's Gate in search of adventure and quickly discover the Flaming Fist, one of the largest and most powerful mercenary companies in all Faer?n. To survive in this teeming metropolis, you must prove both your physical and political prowess, and the challenges you will face might turn out to be far more complicated than you imagined. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Baldur's Gate for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure CORE1-1: "Inheritance"
When the Netherese conquered Sembia, those who objected were either killed or forced to flee. Decades later, a young man inherits a key to the family vault abandoned seventy years earlier. Desperate for money, he hires you to retrieve it contents in a gamble that something worthwhile is still there. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Sembia for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure CORE1-2: "The Radiant Vessel of Thesk"
Rumors of a great item, touched by divinity, have spread across Faer?n. Those with an interest in possessing the item and benefiting from its power have sent agents to find it, but no one seems to know what or where it is. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Thesk for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure CORE1-3: "Sense of Wonder"
You are summoned to help a cleric of Gond Wonderbringer, who seeks the location of a lost temple to the Lord of All Smiths. Think of all the marvelous inventions, lost since the Spellplague came crashing down on the nation of Lantan, that might lie waiting to be rediscovered and brought back to the lands of Faer?n! A Living Forgotten Realms adventure for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure EAST1-1: "These Hallowed Halls"
The Crafty Kobold Salvage Company has fearlessly plumbed forgotten treasures from the depths of the earth for many years. The owner needs adventurers of uncommon mettle to brave the dangers of the Underdark, find a group of lost explorers that includes the owner's son, and perhaps even unlock the ancient secrets of Lodestone Deep. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in the East Rift for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure LURU1-1: "Slivers of Eaerlann"
Luruar is a haven of peace and culture surrounded by howling wilderness studded with lost ruins, hidden temples, and the lairs of foul, vicious creatures. Things that are lost, however, do not always stay so, and some things hidden refuse to remain in darkness. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Luruar for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure SPEC1-1: "Shades of the Zhentarim"
Zhentil Keep is a city with a storied history, even if most of the tale is not fit for innocent ears. A mission to find the wayward son of a wealthy merchant leads deep into the secrets, deceptions, and brutal power on which the dreaded Zhentarim built their ominous keep. A Living Forgotten Realms two-round special adventure set in the north section of Zhentil Keep for characters levels 1?4.

Adventure WATE1-1: "Heirloom"
An old tutor asks the adventurers to recover a stolen family heirloom for a "down-on-its-luck" Waterdhavian noble family. A Living Forgotten Realms adventure set in Waterdeep for characters levels 1?4.

D&D Classic Championship

The venerable championship returns this year, updated for 4th Edition. Compete as a team in this D&D 3-round elimination tournament to win great prizes, including an iPod nano! This year's championship is called "In Fear No More," and those that get to the final round play at paragon tier.

"In Fear No More" is a Classic-style 4th Edition adventure with characters provided, with team advancement from the first round to semi-final and final rounds. The D&D Championship Series uses 5 player tables. Prizes awarded to top places.

Adventure: "In Fear No More"
The cunning and ruthless Empire of the Crimson Light, under the brazen leadership of The Eternal Emperor, has crossed the Soulless Sea and conquered the kingdom of Aeris. The Emperor's heavy-handedness has seeded a growing rebellion, but the rebels do not stand a chance against the forces from across the sea. Instead, they look to a small band of local heroes to rise with them and behead the constricting imperial serpent before their hope is extinguished forever.

D&D Delve

A convention favorite returns to Gen Con updated for 4th Edition! Titled "The Royal Gambit," the D&D Delve features fast gameplay and fun rewards. Get as far as you can in 45 minutes bashing down doors and monster's heads to earn tokens redeemable for prizes. There are many different paths to explore; play as often as you like! 3rd-level characters are provided.

Other RPGA Offerings

In addition to all the 4th Edition fun, we'll also have other great Wizards games on hand for you to enjoy. Try out the Star Wars Saga Edition rules using material from the new Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide with a full adventure called "The Betrayal of Darth Revan," or join in the delve-style "Rebel Run" (characters are provided for both events).

Relax and have fun with Inn-Fighting or Three-Dragon Ante; we'll even teach you how to play these fun casual games. If you're a card shark, we even have Three-Dragon Ante tournaments running each evening, where you can win a stack of D&D stuff.

D&D Miniatures

The Sagamore Ballroom plays host to a full slate of D&D Miniatures events. The capstone event is the 2008 Constructed Championship, which takes place on Saturday. The best players compete for the $5,000 cash purse, split among the top 8 players. If you haven't qualified for it yet, you can participate in a last-chance qualifier on Thursday or Friday.

If a more casual game is your speed, there are other miniatures tournaments running throughout the show, or you can sign up for the convention league and play all weekend long!

Art Portfolio Reviews

Art directors from Wizards of the Coast will conduct art portfolio reviews at the show.
