Since the other thread kinda got eaten up with various things, we'll reserve this one for the actual RP and out of session gameplay.  I'll also post the session summaries in this thread as we go along.

Lord Pardraig has given the group an offer in the Background thread, and Valthrun has provided some information.  Does anyone have any questions or actions yet?

Pardraig slumps his shoulders a bit and sighs, "Sister Linora has heard rumors of a raid on the village of Riverdown, which is in the Harkenworld, near Fallcrest.  I believe this is what your Cleric went back to his Temple to report on.  There are no specifics, but Baron Stockmer is the Lord of those lands, and I'm sure he would handsomely reward any adventurer who helped his subjects when they were in need!  These Bloodreavers must be stopped before they prey on any other towns or villages in the Veil!"

Pardraig pauses to sit down and take a draught of ale. "As for insight and suggestions, Valthrun is our only source of information here; and I think he has shared all he knows about Thunderspire.  It's an uneasy truce there being held together by mutual greed and the power of the Mages of Sauurun.  I'd consider the Seven Pillar Hall relatively safe, but I wouldn't go exploring the Labyrinth on a whim...many have not returned from such expeditions."

    Tagon gathers the group around:

"I have unfinished business at home that I must take care of. I will meet you all here in Winterhaven in three days to set out to Thunderspire. I have asked the Paladin to come with me in case I run into trouble on the roads."

After hearing the news about Riverdown coming under attack, Liaden begins to seem troubled.

He begins to head back to where he is staying when Beorn grabs his arm and asks, "Where are you going?!"

Liaden replies "I want to make sure everything is alright in Riverdown."

"You mean you want to make sure your father is ok.", Beorn counters.

"Of course I mean him! Wouldn't you do the same for one of yours?!", Liaden asks in anger.

"YES! But what were you going to do? Go off by yourself?!", Beorn retorts.

"It's all I can do! I can catch up with you all at Thunderspire once I make sure everything is alright.", Liaden answers.

"Stupid half-elf... It is just a rumor... everything could be alright. If it is true... what if the slavers are still around there? You can't go there by yourself!", Beorn yells.

"Then what am I supposed to do?! Wait till all this is over?! He might be DEAD!!!", Liaden shouts.

Beorn stares at Liaden and brings his voice back down, "We will check with the others... Riverdown isn't all that far from Fallcrest or Thunderspire. Even if it is a rumor, checking in on the town would be the right thing to do..."

Liaden throws his arms in frustration and says, "Alright... I'll bring it up with everyone else once we are back together." before stalking off to the tavern.

Right after Liaden and Beorn's little exchange. Tagon shows up however the Dragon Born Paladin Draos is not with him.

"I am back!" Tagon shouts as he enters the tavern. "I know I am cutting it close but you don't have to worry about move on with out your trusty rouge. The suit of armor said he had to stay and be more pious or something, honestly I seldom listen to the lizard. I however did want to make the trip to Winterhaven alone, so I asked a witch if she wanted to come with me."

Just then a tall StormSoul Genasi enters the Tavern. "For the last time you little rat I am not a witch. I practice the deadly art of the swordmage. And you asking me had nothing to do with me coming here. I heard about the slavers and came to burn them to the ground at all cost."

"Can you believe the Lizard gave her Aecris?" Tagon continues, "I think the witch must have put a charm on him or something."

As little bolts of lightning punctuating her words the genasi hisses, "listen here you little rat had it not been for the Paladin making me promises not to kill you with this blade, your head would be on the floor, I can't wait until I find myself a new longsword!" With that she turns to the crowd that has formed, "Oh I am sorry I have not introduced myself. I am Raeya of the Storm" after a quick bow she walks past the crowd sitting at a table on the other side of the room.

    And so it begins...

We start the night with our adventurers assembled in the Winterhaven Inn, just after having accepted Lord Pardraig's offer to investigate the Bloodreavers and Thunderspire Mountain.  Liaden asks the group to make a side trip to the village of Riverdown to check on his family, since it's on the way to Thunderspire, and to investigate the earlier reports of the Bloodreaver raid.

On the morning of thier second day out of Winterhaven on the Kings Road, they are ambused at the river crossing by a mixed group of villains!  A pitched battle ensues, during which Arelos falls.  In the end; a Dire Wolf, Bugbear, several goblins and hobgoblins, and a human mage lay dead in the field near the bridge.  Arelos is tended to and the group searches their slain foes to find a note from Krand, the Hobgoblin Chieftan of the Bloodreavers, asking that this group "take care of" the adventurers!

After a brief rest, the group continues their journey to Riverdown unmolested.  Upon arriving in the small village the group makes its way to the local Inn to find that the Baron Stockmer lives in the large house on the top of the hill in town.  The barkeep also relays a tale of a dozen of the local villagers being abducted by the Bloodreavers!  The group makes it's way to Baron Stockmers house and, after talking to the guards and pickpocketing some lint, are granted an audience with the Baron.

Our adventurers are lead into the Barons dining room where they are greeted and offered ale.  A mishap in diplomacy thanks to Tagon almost leads to the adventurers being thrown out of Riverdown (or worse...), but Delmar saved the day and managed to negotiate with the Baron.  There is now a standing reward of 500gp for the safe return of all the missing citizens to the Village of Riverdown.

The band of brothers leaves Riverdown and heads north towards Liadens home, only to find it empty...no sign of his father anywhere! The group manages to pick up a trail leading north/northeast into the Hills, and finds a malfunctioning trap about an hour away, but still no signs of Liadens father!  Shortly after reaching the foothills of the mountains they loose the trail and decide to continue thier trek to Thunderspire.

Arriving at Thuderspire late in the evening, it is a sight to behold!  The party enters through the minotaur gate and soon find themselves in trouble once more.  Heading into the Seven Pillar Hall they find a group of hobgoblins just about to kidnap a wayward halfling.  The group springs into action:  Tagon sneaking into the storage room where the confrontation is taking place and

attempting to sneak attack the hobgoblins.  When this fails, the group resorts to their normal tactics:  blowing the door off the hinges and coming in swinging!  Five more of the Bloodreaver Hobgoblins fall before the magic and blades of our heroes!  The group meetings Rendil Halfmoon, whose family owns the Half Moon Inn at the Seven Pillar Hall.  Rendil was just about to be sold into

slavery by the Hobgoblins when the adventureres intervened...and he was most grateful to the group; offering them free room and board and a free meal for thier saving him.

We pick up with the group inside the Half Moon in at the Seven Pillar Hall.  This large building sits against the side of the Hall and serves as a trading post, taproom, and inn. The halflings of the Halfmoon family run the place, stocking a variety of foodstuffs and other goods obtained from Halfmoon posts in neighboring lands. The Halfmoon offers the only guest accommodations in the Hall, other than camping in the "pigenholes" which residents or passers' by use from time to time.

During your dinner and several rounds of ale you learn that Rendil Halfmoon is the nephew of Erra Halfmoon, who runs the inn and whose pleasant manner hides an iron backbone. She has built the inn into a profitable enterprise for her family. In gratitude for Rendil?s rescue, she happily provides the player characters with room and board at the Halfmoon for as long as they want to stay (normally it costs a guest 5 sp per night).

The Mages of Saruun tolerate the presence of the halflings and more or less appreciate having an inn in the Hall. That said, Brugg and his enforcers make sure to collect money from the establishment for the mages, and the ogre keeps an eye on who is coming and going from the place as a part of his job. Brugg enjoys causing trouble at the inn, threatening the Halfmoon family, watching patrons, and sometimes starting fights just for the fun of it. The mages have ordered the ogre not to harm any of the Halfmoons, but that doesn?t stop the creature from intimidating people and throwing his considerable weight around.

Rendil Halfmoon tells the adventurers that the Bloodreavers use an area called the Chamber of Eyes as thier base inside Thunderspire Mountain, and gives them directions on how to find the chamber:

✦ Leave the Seven-Pillared Hall through the Dragon

    Door.

✦ Follow the route marked by prospectors and miners.

That path leads through a maze of chambers, halls, and

    passageways.

✦ Turn left into the narthex of the Chamber of Eyes when

you pass a doorway that has a lintel carved with five

    staring eyes.

Delmar and Kelimbor thank Erra Halfmoon for her hospitality.  Both Delmar and Kelimbor spend time speaking with people in and around the inn, trying to gather information on the following subjects:

    1. The number or size of the slaver force.

    2. The power of the slavers (in other words, do they have magic users, ogres, monsters, magical weapons, etc).

    3. How well guarded the Chamber of Eyes is.

    4. Identifying the slaver leadership or any information about him/her/them.

    5. Any allies of the slavers or people/groups we need to be careful of if we cause trouble for the reavers.

    6. What help we can expect when we go against the reavers.

    7. Finding anyone who has been to the Chamber of Eyes.

    8. Anyone in Thunderspire who may be willing to pay or provision the group for getting rid of the slavers.

    9. Any information on the Mages of Saruun.

Although both Delmar and Kelimbor ask around, between the two, Kelimbor is far more likely to find information, as his Diplomacy bonus is 7, Insight bonus is 9 and Streetwise bonus is 10.

KC, is the inn one of the numbered places on the map that you previously posted and, if so, which number is it?

Kelimbor also spends some time asking around to see if anyone has any rituals or ritual ingredients for sale.

The Half Moon Inn is #10 on the map...

After asking around the Inn, Kelimbor is directed to the Temple.  Phaledra tells you that she has both Gentle Repose and Raise Dead rituals available for a tithe to Erathis.  You also stop by Gendars Curio's and Relics shop, which is owned and operated by an old Drow named Gendar!  He tells you that from time to time adventureres trade such things with him, but at the moment he has none in stock.

Information on the Bloodreavers seems to be pretty scarce, other than common knowldge.  The Bloodreavers is actually a hobgoblin clan, but the group as a whole is known by that name.  They sometimes employ or ally with other gobolinoid allies, and occasionally will employ humanoids.  Dwarves and Dureagar have also been seen in the company of the Bloodreavers.  Knowledge of thier activites is ignored by most in the Hall in order to maintain the fragile truce between all the species and groups that meet to trade wealth there, but the Bloodreavers don't interact much with people in the Hall anyway; they are just seen passing through occasionally for the most part.

An old sage named Valdriar frequents the Half Moon.  He is a short, slender, bald human of middle age.  During one of your inquiries you happen upon him reading on of his large books at the Inn.  He seems helpful enough, though he stutters and has a sense of terror or impending doom in his eyes and speech.

"At the pinnacle of Saruun Khel?s greatness, the Chamber of Eyes was a shrine dedicated to the god Torog in his manifestation as the Patient One, a horrible creature of eyes and mouths that waits in the darkness." Valdriars eyes widen at this, as if he's seen the Patient One himself!"

When the minotaurs first ventured into the vast caverns below Thunderspire Mountain, they found crude, forsaken altars. The minotaur priests? divinations revealed that the deep caverns of Thunderspire were sacred to Torog, so the minotaurs agreed to honor him even though they were devoted to the demon lord Baphomet. Some say that the madness and violence that descended on Saruun Khel in its final days were Baphomet?s vengeance against his people for daring to offer sacrifices to

another power." Valdriar takes a pause to look around nervously

"The petitioners of Torog are long gone. A few months ago, the Bloodreavers, a goblinoid band of slavers and marauders, discovered the site and turned it into a defensible lair. Led by Krand, the Bloodreavers now plot their next evil."

During your inquiries you also learn of several other individuals around the Hall who may be of later interest:

Brugg - An ogre, leads the enforcers that work for the Mages of Saruun. In addition to keeping the peace, collecting protection money, and acting as muscle for the mages, Brugg keeps an eye out for new arrivals who might upset the delicate balance of affairs in the Hall. He can usually be found at the Customhouse, relaxing at Rothars Taproom, causing trouble at the Halfmoon Inn, or patrolling the Hall.  He looks rather mean and carries a huge spiked greatclub whereever he goes...

Charrak - This kobold is a runt even by the diminutive standards of his kind. Driven out of his tribes tunnels because of his failed plot against the kobold king, he now begs for coins in the Seven-Pillared Hall and sometimes does menial labor for the Halls merchants. Owing to his size and cringing manner, Charrak is often ignored and thus sees many events and transactions around the Hall...information he sells for a price when he can.

Ordinator Arcanis - The Ordinator Arcanis wears deep black robes and a golden mask of an impassive, stylized human face. This mysterious figure serves as the magistrate for the Seven-

Pillared Hall. As the representative of the Mages of Saruun, the Ordinator Arcanis judges guilt or innocence in grievances and acts as an arbitrator in disputes. When the Ordinator Arcanis walks the Hall, the inhabitants tremble. It is not unusual for the Ordinator Arcanis to remain unseen for weeks or months at a time, only to appear suddenly to execute the law of the mages or to settle a dispute. In most cases, the judgment of the Ordinator Arcanis is swift, harsh, and usually fatal...the mages have no desire to maintain jails or inflict minor penalties. Most residents of the Hall know that they can summon the Ordinator Arcanis by speaking his name while standing in front of the large minotaur statue.

Bennik the Wanderer - Bennik, a halfling traveling minstrel, makes his living spinning tales, collecting rumors, and performing at inns. He is an old friend of Erra Halfmoon, and his harp performances always draw a crowd at the Halfmoon Inn when he visits the Hall. If the adventurers prove honorable and heroic to the people of the Seven-Pillared Hall, they can count on Bennik to spread news of their deeds far and wide. Should they prove to be villainous, they can expect to meet a cold reception in neighboring lands thanks to the tales spun by Bennik the Wanderer.

Surina - Surina is a tough, bitter veteran of battles against gnolls and their demonic allies in the northern wastes. As a dragonborn warlock and a devout follower of Erathis, she believes that she must do everything she can to push back the encroaching tide of chaos. She has recently come to the Seven-Pillared Hall in hopes of turning it into an armed camp from which she can lead strikes against the monsters of the Underdark. So far, no one has joined her cause, and the Mages of Saruun have ignored her. Surina is a fanatic, eager to do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. However, her hatred of disorder has blinded her to the slippery slope she has descended. Surina is willing to use almost any means necessary to achieve her goal. Goaded on by an imp named Mezzothraxiar, she believes that some strife today can yield tremendous good tomorrow. The dragonborn warlock splits her time between the Temple of Hidden Light and the out-of-the-way pigeonhole she has claimed when she isn't preaching in the Hall or exploring the Labyrinth.

Terrlen Darkseeker - Terrlen, a middle-aged man with a weathered face and a quiet disposition, is an explorer who leads caravans along the Vale Road. He also makes occasional forays into the Labyrinth and is a skilled guide. Terrlen is renowned for his competence (Dungeoneering +10), and though some of his expeditions have failed, the people of the Hall are quick to recommend his services. If the adventurers hire him he charges 10 gp per day.

Vadriar the Sage - Vadriar is a slender, short human with a shaved head. He wears simple brown robes and carries a heavy backpack stuffed with books and scrolls. Vadriar is gripped with endless terror. He sputters, trips over his own feet, and seems ready for an ambush at any moment. Despite these  drawbacks, he is the most sagacious person in the Hall. He is usually found at the Halfmoon Inn, but he frequently travels the Labyrinth alone in search of new lore .

I gather the company into a dark corner of the common room making sure no one can over hear us.

"While I was out shopping for potions the warlock Surina approached me asking for us to help her 'rid the mountain of evil' and she wasn't just talking about the Bloodreavers. Now my instinct tells me she is a crazy zealot, but just because someone is crazy doesn't mean they are wrong. Of course last time I wanted to help someone she tried to see to our deaths. Of course from what has been learned from others it seems she may have at least some information on the Labyrinth. And if we want to keep our piddly reward for the missing villagers we are going to have to go down there at some point. With that in mind what does everyone have to say about accepting her help?"

Liaden sat in the corner of the inn seeing what he could catch word of. He kept an eye on his fellow party members, watching for any odd exchanges or eavesdropping by the other customers. (Perception check?)

As Tagon calls the party together, Liaden taps Beorn on the shoulder and they both go to join the rest. As the group comes together, everyone can see Beorn wrapping a shirt up in an extra pouch he had. Making sure it is sealed in tight before putting it back on his person.

After listening to Tagon's information, Liaden shakes his head. "I'd rather not get involved with someone who might be mixed up in more than we can handle. What if she has a bad reputation with the mages?"

He sighs before continuing, "We are a band of adventurers, and I say we keep out of any politics or grudges. I've heard of a Terrlen Darkseeker who would be willing to take us down there for 10 gold a day. I'm more willing to trust money than many of these scum who want to involve us in their schemes. With his experience we are more likely to get where we want to go."

Beorn adds, "Aye, and if it is information we want, best to check with some of the one's sleeping on the street. Perhaps one of them has something."

Surina has no concern for the Thunderspire but rather the Labyrinth which we all know the mages don't give a kobold's back end about as long as the peace within Thunderspire seems intact. The mages turn a blind eye to the things that come through here in  order to make a fast buck, for all we know they watched your father get dragged into the Labyrinth by th Bloodreaver's and did nothing about it. And who is to say this guide wont lead us to our death's and steal our gold. Gold runs this town and can not be trusted here. A person with a cause that parallels our is a better hope.

Charrak - This kobold is a runt even by the diminutive standards of his kind. Owing to his size and cringing manner, Charrak is often ignored and thus sees many events and transactions around the Hall...information he sells for a price when he can.

Kelimbor finds Charrak while he begs for coins and quietly says, "You don't know me, my friend, but I know you, Charrak.  I know your burden.  I know the dream you had, the dream you implemented.  To build a better, stronger tribe for your family and neighbors.  I know the heights to which your hopes and dreams soared.  I also know the fantastic pain associated with your fall.  The ending of a dream is never a pleasant thing, but to lose...everything."  Kelimbor looks around slowly, shaking his head with a pained look on his face.  "Charrak, I want to help you pick up the pieces and rebuild your life.  Is this what you want? to live hand to mouth, begging for tidbits from those who feel nothing but pity or disgust for you?  You deserve better and I will help you achieve exactly what you deserve.  I have a business proposal for you."  Kelimbor kneels down before the small creature, "work for me.  I know you sell information.  Hints...rumors...half-truths...sometimes, perhaps, even stories that are more a product of your imagination than fact.  That is not what I speak of.  I want knowledge.  True information.  I'm not interested in what Aunt Sally ate for lunch last week.  I want to know those things that are buried deep within the halls of power.  Secrets that have the power to change the world.  You can get that information.  And when you do, you will come to me with it and no one else.  In exchange, I will compensate you according to the value of your information.  Speak true and of matters of import, and you shall never have to beg again.  What say you?" (Kelimbor attempts to use his diplomacy skill [+7 bonus] to convince Charrack)

Should they prove to be villainous, they can expect to meet a cold reception in neighboring lands thanks to the tales spun by Bennik the Wanderer.

Delmar attempts to strike up a conversation wiht Bennik and subtly mentions that he is one of the "Heroes of Winterhaven" and spends some time listening to any songs, stories, or (hopefully) rumors Bennik may be inclined to share.

I gather the company into a dark corner of the common room making sure no one can over hear us.

"While I was out shopping for potions the warlock Surina approached me asking for us to help her 'rid the mountain of evil' and she wasn't just talking about the Bloodreavers. And if we want to keep our piddly reward for the missing villagers we are going to have to go down there at some point. With that in mind what does everyone have to say about accepting her help?"

[OOC: I posted a reply but it apparently didn't make it to the thread, so I'm trying again]  Once Tagon is done giving his information, Delmar offers the following:

"It seems our reputation truly is growing.  I was approached by Gendar, who runs the Curios and Relics shop.  He said to me that he needs a group of able-bodied adventurers to retrieve an item of commercial value for the him. Then he said, "The item is an ancient skull scepter; it?s nonmagical, but one of my regular clients is interested in the item." Gendar had acquired it from the Bone Chamber, near the cisterns beneath the Seven-Pillared Hall, but lost it when his agents were ambushed by the duergar. "A duergar in the Horned Hold currently possesses the scepter," Gendar explained, "but it clearly belongs to me. If you happen to come across the scepter in your travels, I shall pay you handsomely for returning it to me.  Say...300gp?" I told him that I would have to discuss his proposal with my comrades and get back to him.  As for Surina, I'm not sure it would be wise to become too entangled with her, however, I agree with you Tagon that she may have knowledge that could be beneficial.  It may prove useful to form a loose alliance with her to stay on her good side and find out what she knows regarding "evil" on the mountain.  If our goals truly do coincide, then as we make progress toward our end, we should gain further trust, and hopefully useful information, from her.  Tagon, is she offering nothing in return for services provided?  What incentive does she give to lure us to her cause?  I seem to recall hearing a rumor that she is somehow in league with an imp.  Imps are dangerous and untrustworthy creatures, from what I hear told.  We must be careful whatever course we choose with her.

Does anyone have any thoughts about Gendar's offer?  He further agreed that if we accept the job, he will not offer it to any other adventurers.  Personally, I do not trust Gendar.  Call it a naturally suspicious nature, but I doubt that he is the true owner.  I also am not convinced that it has no magical properties.  Of course, we won't learn the truth unless we accept his offer and find the scepter.  Also, I could surely use the gold."

Kelimbor nods when Liaden speaks of trusting money and when Beorn speaks of rousting the locals for information, "I also have more faith in the greedy nature of people than in their political machinations.  I'm trying to develop a relationship with one of the local beggars in the hope that he will do a little spying for us.  As for Surina's proposal, I agree that she's probably out of her mind and more likely than not she's a greater danger to the town than she portrays.  Also, I won't speak for others, but I'm here to make a name for myself, put bread on my table and provide a safe and solid future for those I care about.  If I wanted to be a crusader for righteous causes, I would have trained to be a paladin.  However," at this Kelimbor flashes a smirk, "a crazy old witch, a promise of battle, unknown enemies and nothing for a reward beyond the possibility of keeping our skin...it certainly is an intriguing proposal.  I will accept the group's decision, whatever it may be."

What say you?" (Kelimbor attempts to use his diplomacy skill [+7 bonus] to convince Charrack)

Charrack initially listens to your proposal with suspicion, fidgeting constantly while you talk, as you lean down towards him he takes a step back away from you and makes a slight sneer.  His demeanor changes when you mention GOLD...

"Smelly half breed, Charrak not trust.  Humans and elves and dwarves not treat Charrak good!"  Charrak considers for a moment. "Kobolds not treat Charrak good either?" He puzzles for a moment longer, torn between himself it seems. "Charrak like you though, for smelly half breed" He snickers for a moment "Charrak see things, hear things...but Charrak not tell for free.  You pay, Charrak tell!" Charrak slams his fist into his hand, then seems to have a revelation. "Charrak know something worth gold, something you will need to know...soon...dungeon crawler.  You give me gold piece, I tell you name.  You give me more gold pieces, I tell you about the name.  Name you will hear, name you need to know, name that may bring your doom half breed..."

Delmar attempts to strike up a conversation wiht Bennik

Unfortuantely, Bennik is not currently in the Hall.  Lady Halfmoon tells you that he wanders quite a bit, being a bard and all.  She expects to see him at the Inn within the week though.

So it seems no one wants to trust Surina and a rouge doesn't stay in business long trusting money. Looks like we will be entering the the Labyrinth without much help beyond information we can gleam from these people.

As to the scepter nothing says we can't find it and keep it. Gendar may be willing to pay 300 gold, but if it something of value I am sure you can find someone else willing to buy it for more Delmar.

And with that I bid you good night. I want to be fully rested when we start up in the morning.

Delmar attempts to stop Tagon before he leaves, "Do we need to trust Surina to work with her?  My friend, I am new to your band.  I followed Liaden when he asked for assistance in locating his father and I will trust in your judgment on this issue.  All that glitters is not gold and rewards are sometimes found where none are expected.  All I suggest is that we not place our trust in her or allow her to place us in a vulnerable position."

Kelimbor steps toward Tagon, "I meant what I said about the proposal being intriguing.  Though much against my better judgment and more often than not to my detriment, situations like this present me with a certain...draw."  Kelimbor smirks again, "call it a lust for danger.  Why else would I seek out a warlord to befriend?  I also will follow your lead in this matter."

Delmar once again turns toward Tagon and whispers, "Sometimes I think he's got a death wish.  One thing Kelimbor doesn't have is a sense of humor.  He's the grimest person I ever met.  You can take him at his word, he is never sarcastic.  As for Gendar, I agree.  If there are no objections, I'll tell him that we'll make no guarantees regarding the scepter.  If we find it, we'll deal with the situation at that time.  Though, I'd like to try to get some more information from Gendar before we leave."

Delmar starts back toward his seat and turns his head toward Tagon as he walks, "strange hearing a rogue say he doesn't trust the shiny stuff, but puts his faith in his fellow man.  You are quite the optimist and certainly far more trusting than I."

Liaden watches the event and sighs, "Who would not rather trust and be deceived? Well why not, we might as well go with someone, and this person is free..."

He thinks for a second before adding, "Just keep an eye on Surina, history is full of individuals who would throw away an entire city for their goals. Just remember that we have to make it clear that her goals are second to ours... no matter the reward."

On that Liaden pauses, "Did she offer anything, or is she just eager to join our band?"

Kelimbor hands Charrak 1 gold piece

Charrak's eyes get bigger and he seems happier now.  He steps forward and motions you to lean down closely as he looks around.  He whispers "Paldemar" then looks around a bit more, scared that someone has heard him. "Paldemar, a Mage of Sauruun, or maybe not anymore.  He not seen lately, been in Labryinth.  Think Ordinator is worried, and if he is worried you should be too..."  Charrak pauses "Truce is fragile, Charrak think Mages are slipping, there will be battle, there will be blood spilled in the Hall."

Charrak rubs his three gold pieces together in his hands, then looks back up at you. "Charrak find more if you pay more.  Charrak work for you.  Charrak think half breed treat me better than most, so Charrak will work for you.  Charrak can hear things, see things, that other cannot.  Charrak will tell you for gold."

"My friends I never said I trust her. but we have no idea what is in the pit. Like I said the mages care for nothing but for the gold that travels into the thunderspire they don't care what brings it here.

"I do not trust that 'guide' as everyone will admit that his group doesn't always make it back and yet he does. Who is to say he didn't lead them to trouble after he was paid and then ran.

"As to it being odd for a rouge to not trust gold. I have never meet one that did. Don't get me wrong I want gold and lots of it, but I know not to trust my life to it.

"I am tired, I am going to my room."

At this Raeya finally speaks up

"It seems to me that for now the best idea is pump the locals for the information and enter the  Labyrinth alone. And hope if we change our mind it is not to late to come back here to get the help. I to must turn in for the night I need to reconnect with my sword before we begin."

At some point before we leave in the morning Delmar visits Gendar and advises him that:

having discussed the matter with my friends, I am unable to give him a commitment regarding his offer.  I explain that our quest is to rescue the lives of his fellow townsfolk and that we cannot allow ourselves to be distracted from this vital mission even for a moment, or we risk people dying.  I tell him that, should we come across the scepter in our travels we can discuss the matter further at that time.  I thank him again for the kind offer of employment and bid him good day.

Kelimbor shares with his party members the information he learned from charrak.

"Very well, but I will seek others to reclaim what is rightfully mine."  He regards you with a cool stare as you leave the shop.
